Understanding dementia begins with knowledge. By exploring common symptoms and effective communication strategies, caregivers and loved ones can bridge gaps, foster compassion, and provide dignity to those living with dementia. At The Summit at Chenal Valley Senior Living, education transforms our approach to care, helping us create meaningful connections and nurturing environments.
Education and support are essential in dementia care. They empower caregivers to navigate behavioral changes, reduce stress, and promote dignity and independence. By fostering understanding within families and communities, we can reduce stigma and improve the quality of life for individuals with dementia. Support networks play a key role in providing emotional assistance, enhancing caregivers’ well-being, and ensuring that those with dementia receive compassionate and effective care.
Arrow Senior Living offers comprehensive resources for individuals with dementia and their families. Our Virtual Dementia Support Group, led by Licensed Clinical Social Worker Sandy McGatha, meets every Tuesday at 1 PM CST/2 PM EST and on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 PM CST/7 PM EST.
Our Regional Memory Care Team hosts monthly virtual education sessions, and in-person presentations are facilitated by Memory Care Directors within our communities. For additional insights, our award-winning podcast, Thoughtful Connections: A Memory Care Podcast, covers a range of dementia-related topics.
Participating in education and support groups offers numerous benefits. These groups enhance understanding, provide practical caregiving skills, and offer emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation. They also connect individuals facing similar challenges, helping caregivers build resilience and prevent burnout. Ultimately, these resources empower families to confidently manage dementia while improving the quality of life for their loved ones.
The more we learn, the better equipped we are to deliver empathetic, person-centered care. We invite you to join our dementia education sessions, tune into Thoughtful Connections: A Memory Care Podcast, and participate in our Virtual Dementia Support Group. Together, we can expand understanding, foster open dialogue, and advocate for better resources for those affected by dementia.
