In honor of Women's History Month, join us in celebrating Carla!

Carla H. is a resident of the Memory Care Neighborhood at Vitalia Active Community - North Olmsted in North Olmsted, OH. Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she moved to the Los Angeles area with her two small children in the late 1960’s. She got a job at a local police department. As the newest employee (and a woman), she was assigned the “undesired” task of learning how to use the computer equipment the department acquired.

She learned well and eventually got a job with NCR, which in the 1970s was a big player in the burgeoning large computer industry. They transferred her first to their headquarters in Dayton, OH, and then, as part of a promotion, they moved her and her family outside Atlanta. When personal computers began to appear in the early 1980s, she left NCR to join a small PC start-up company and worked there until retirement as a computer programmer and data systems analyst.

Carla was instrumental in creating and installing the phone-prompted unemployment compensation system for one U.S. state and wrote facility security programs for two nuclear power plants. During the last several years of her career, she was able to telecommute after moving to the Cleveland area to live with her son and daughter-in-law.

Carla was very active in the 1980s in civic associations and was the President of the Atlanta chapter of the American Businesswomen’s Association for a few years. She always enjoyed bowling and was a league bowler throughout most of her adult life. Carla was a big fan of the NFL and had season tickets to the Atlanta Falcons for 22 (mostly losing) years. She is a generous and loving mother who set a fine example for both of her children.

In honor of Women's History Month, join us in celebrating Lina!

Lina Elizabeth L. is a resident of the Memory Care Neighborhood at The Kentridge Senior Living, Kent, OH. She was born and raised in the “sleepy little town” of Toronto, Ohio, a steel mill, and coal mining community with hard working families, where faith and family were the utmost priority. She attended St Francis Roman Catholic Parish.

Lina loved taking the bus from Toronto to Steubenville, which was about a nine-mile ride. She’d wear fancy clothes, take the streetcar around the town, go to lunch, and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the bigger city. Her favorite thing to do was visit The Hub, with all its finery, and dream of someday working in a store like that. After graduating high school in 1959 she attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and studied interior decorating and display, which landed her a job as a decorator and display artist at The Hub!

While at the wedding of a former classmate and friend, she was reacquainted with a fellow school mate; they talked into the wee hours of the morning. The couple were married in June of 1963 and by September 1964 they had their daughter Kelley. Years went by and Lina was blessed to be loved by two men. She met and married Joe L. in May 1997 when they combined their families and doubled the love.

Lina loved to entertain, was a wonderful cook, and a great hostess. She willingly shared her recipes and always displayed her dishes and drinks in the finest ways, so well they looked too good to eat or drink!

She loves children and besides helping with her grandchildren, Lina had a daycare in her home. She didn’t just babysit, but rather created experiences for the children - holiday parties, themed events, and days of teaching and fun. Parents trusted Lina and the kids loved her, so much so many kept in touch with her over the years.

Lina loves unconditionally and her family has blossomed with her love. She has inspired her family to stick with traditions and always make memories, making them “Family Rich.”

Meet Latwanna, our 3rd shift part-time support partner!

“Hi I’m Latwanna. I have four kids and seven grandchildren! I became interested in caregiving when I was a dietary aid at a skilled nursing facility. I observed some residents not receiving much attention and wanted to make a difference. I became a personal caregiver for individual clients, then worked as a home health aide, and then an STNA in a skilled facility. The residents know and feel who is there for them and I have always made it my goal to be that person. I’m in this field to take care of and be there for my residents. I love being a companion interacting and conversing with them. It is difficult for those that do not have loved ones. I strive to be there for them when no one else is and be like family.”

Get to know Cody, one of our full-time day nurse managers.

I enjoy traveling as well as hiking and I have been to almost every state in the United States. I have worked as an LPN in Michigan, Texas, Hawaii, California, Indiana, and Kentucky. I enjoy working for Arrow because I love working with seniors. The stories and talks I get to have with my residents on a daily basis is a true joy to me. I also love the team I work with. It helps to have a great group of people to work with every day.

Veronica Kline

I enjoy working at the Hudson Grande because I feel like we are a not only a team, but a family. I have grown so much since I started here and I know that I will continue to keep growing. Our community rallies around one another in good and trying times. I haven’t worked for a facility where directors show their appreciation and gratitude more. I truly believe this is the best place to work.

Lance Richmond
